Je m’appelle Alexandra. J’ai 50 ans et suis originaire de Braives en Belgique. J’ai grandi à la campagne, au milieu d’animaux de ferme (poules, dindes, lapins, chèvres...) et de compagnie (chiens, chats, oiseaux, poissons, tortues, hamsters). Je voyage avec mes deux chats abyssins Emma Peel et Gulliver Foyle (équipés de traceurs GPS, stérilisés et en ordre de vaccination). Je suis par ailleurs non-fumeuse et flexitarienne. J’apprécie tout particulièrement le calme et la tranquillité. Mes activités favorites sont la lecture (principalement les littératures de l'imaginaire) et les visites culturelles. En outre, je suis actuellement en train de rédiger un mémoire suite à une reprise d'études post-universitaires. Je souhaiterais donc pouvoir me concentrer quelques heures par jour sur ce projet sans trop de distractions extérieures. Par cette expérience de house-sitting, j’espère faire de belles rencontres avec nos amis à deux et à quatre pattes, et visiter des endroits du globe autrement qu’en mode touriste d’un jour.

My name is Alexandra. I'm 50 years old and hail from Braives in Belgium. I grew up in the countryside, surrounded by farm animals (chickens, turkeys, rabbits, goats, etc.) and pets (dogs, cats, birds, fish, tortoises, hamsters). I travel with my two Abyssinian cats, Emma Peel and Gulliver Foyle (fitted with GPS trackers, neutered and in good vaccination order). I'm also a non-smoker and flexitarian. I particularly enjoy peace and quiet. My favourite activities are reading (mainly SFF) and cultural tourism. I'm also currently writing a dissertation following a return to postgraduate studies. I would therefore like to be able to concentrate on this project for a few hours a day without too many outside distractions. Through this house-sitting experience, I hope to meet new friends, both two- and four-legged, and visit places around the world other than just as a tourist for a day.

Alexandra (and her lovely travelling cat!) looked after our old farmhouse and its 4 cats for more than a month and we were very happy with the experience. The cats were well looked after, as were we when we got back: Alexandra loves cooking and we thoroughly enjoyed the meals she made us; we were also grateful to be picked up from the train station upon our return. She was always prompt to reply to my messages, and we were confident that all was going well in our absence. Alexandra is smart, reliable, self-reliant and quiet; we have no hesitation in recommending her as a house-sitter.

Alexandra is about as good as a house sitter as you could hope for. Our house in winter is not the easiest (wood burning stove for heat, very rural), but she did a fantastic job. The dog and cats clearly loved her and were well cared for, and she kept everything perfectly tidy. We had her come a little early and stay a few days after we returned, so we got to spend some time together, which we really enjoyed. While we were away, she kept me informed about how everything was going, which gave me great peace of mind. When we were all here together, she was very considerate of our space, and even prepared a lunch for us one day. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
