To look after two cats, both neutered: that is, to feed morning and evening, empty the night trays of sawdust if necessary, and keep in the house at night. There is a large enclosed garden. The vegetable garden, orchard and the greenhouse need no attention. There is plenty of space for you to relax, and interesting things to do locally in the daytime, and evenings in town if you like restaurants or French cinema.

We have a restored old farmhouse with four ensuite bedrooms in addition to the owners’ apartment. Also a comfortable barn conversion for a sitting room and a games room, and a kitchen-diner. Private secure parking. Large garden managed for biodiversity, vegetables and fruit. Two cats. In a quiet hamlet of 4 houses but only 20 minutes walk from a lovely small spa town with shops, many restaurants and a cinema. Surrounded by miles of woodland with many walks. We have bikes for use. This would be a nice place for a holiday.

We have lots of English books, CDs, DVDs, bikes, wifi, and an electric piano. The garden is enclosed and managed for birds and insects, with fruit trees and a pond. The front garden has a patio overlooking flowers, and another area for outdoor eating. The mezzanine has table tennis and table football. We have log fires and electric radiators.

Our tiny hamlet is quiet, a field away from a minor road, but only a 20 minute walk to either a village (doctor, pharmacy, bakery, minimarket etc.) or to the small spa town of Bagnoles, with many shops, a dozen restaurants, a lake, woodlands and cinema. You could have a quiet week in the garden, walking from the house or cycling using our bikes. And you could enjoy the tourist attractions of Bagnoles and southern Normandy, with woodlands, lakes, and chateaux. For entertainment we have many English language books, DVDs, and music CDs. Wifi.

The Normandy coast is 90 minutes drive but only 7km away is a lake beach with cafe, sports equipment, playground etc. The small town Bagnoles is surrounded by woodlands with trails, including one with zip-wires. There are several chateaux within an easy driving distance. Indeed, one of our neighbours, 1km away, is a 17c Chateau, which you can walk in woodlands around (but not go inside, as the Count and Countess live there). Bagnoles (20 minute walk) is a tourism attraction with a 19c chateau, parkland, woodland and cliffs; the town has a lake, casino, cinema, many restaurants and a large area of Belle Epoch mansions, and an Art Nouveau church, if you are interested in architecture or French culture. There is a great boulangerie in the village, and specialist chocolate, wine and cheese shops in Bagnoles.

We had a very good calm break at julia and Stephen home .We had to care about 2 cats with very different personalities and they became good friends of us.Julia and Stephen welcomed us with a lot of confidence they had prepared 2 useful noticies to teach us how to live with the cats and how to stay in their home and in addition a complete package of maps and turistical documents ..Home and garden were very plaisant we love our stay here thanks to Stephen and julia

Nous avons été très sensibles à l'accueil chaleureux que nous ont réservé Stephen et Julia. En plus de nous avoir accueillis autour d'un très bon déjeuner, Stephen et Julia ont pris le temps de nous faire faire un tour de Bagnoles de l'Orne afin que nous puissions nous repérer rapidement et nous ont indiqué les lieux où nous pouvions faire des courses, prendre un café, un repas ou encore nous promener. Leurs deux chats, Tiger et Gherkin, sont adorables et ce n'est aucunement une contrainte de s'occuper d'eux. La maison de Stephen et Julia est très agréable et propre. Le jardin, très fleuri, est magnifique ! En résumé, nous avons passé un excellent séjour !

We stayed at Stephen and Julia’s beautiful home during the month of December 2023. Upon arrival we felt very welcome and were offered a delicious meal. Our hosts provided a thorough tour of the house and introduction to both cats, Tiger and Gherkin, both low maintenance and friendly pets. The day after we arrived Stephen and Julia were gracious enough to drive us around to acquaint us with the area. The information and maps offered assisted with the selection of daily hikes: this part of Normandy is truly a hiker’s paradise. We found the spacious home to be very cosy and clean: the bed was very comfortable and we loved the fireplace! We can highly recommend these home owners/hosts, their home and the extended area. Upon invitation we would certainly come back here to take care of T&G. Thank you Stephen and Julia!
