We have two dogs. They are both 2 years old. Michka is a Polish Lowland Sheepdog and Mocha is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier.
Ideally, I would like to find 2 persons to do the house/petsit for us (a couple, 2 friends, ...) because it can get quite hectic when we meet other dogs, horses, motorbikes, etc. on our walks (this doesn't happen very often, but when it does it is easier to be with two people). Our dogs are well trained, and do come back to me when called. As much as I love children, I wouldn't want a family to stay in our house as our dogs are not used to small children (ours are adults now), and I don't want to take any risks!
Note : only non-smokers please!
Our dogs love going for walks (1 or 2 walks a day) and this keeps them quiet and satisfied!!! I start off with them on the leash, but I let them loose as soon as I'm above the houses (a 5 minute walk). The house-sitters would have to be quite fit and strong because my dogs tend to pull when they meet another dog on the leash! Once they are loose, …

The house-sitters would have to be quite fit and strong because my dogs tend to pull when they meet another dog on the leash! Once they are loose, meeting dogs is no problem. Also, the Jura mountain isn't flat ;), the walks inlude little uphill climbs! There are also beautiful fields to walk through, or other walks towards little streams, etc. Another possibility is to put the dogs in the car and drive a couple of minutes, and let them loose directly.
In the house the dogs are very independant. They have their own room with a cat-flap to be able to go in and out to the garden, which is completely fenced off. When I leave the house I put them here but when I'm home they follow me everywhere! The house-sitters can leave the house for 4 to 5 hours, no problem, so they can go shopping, sight-seeing etc. for half a day at a time.
No need to do any housework or gardening, unless you enjoy it!
Our dogs must be fed twice a day (tinned meat mixed with dry food) and given a quick brush after their walks, as little bits and pieces get stuck in their fur. I also check them for ticks, wounds, etc.
Hello, my name is Sue, I am Dutch originally, but I arrived in this part of France, the "Pays de Gex", (near Geneva, Switzerland), in 1977. After traveling the world, I came back to this beautiful area and made it my home with my husband, who was born in Prague, our two children and our DOGS !!!
Our home could be a little paradise for nature and sports lovers. We live in a quiet village called Échenevex, nestled at the foot of the Jura Mountains, at an altitude of nearly 600 meters. We can actually walk out the door with our dogs and within minutes we are in the forest! Geneva Airport is a 20 minute drive away. If you would arrive by plane, we can pick you up and bring you back to the Airport.

We have a large deck terrace with a view, weather permitting, over Geneva, the Alpes and the Mont-Blanc., and a barbecue you can use. We have a swimming pool in our garden, which is heated from May to September. We also have 2 electric bikes, among others, for the bikers among you! And if, by any chance, you have the same shoe size, you're welcome to try our skis!

Échenevex hasn't got any shops. One needs a car in this area, as public transport is poor. There would be a car available for the house-sitters. The nearest supermarket is a 10 minute drive away.
We have transformed our basement into an independent "apartment" with 2 (bed)rooms, a bathroom and a kitchenette. Seeing we have these extra rooms, we can accommodate you even when we are still at home. But you will have use of the whole house, of course!!! I will always add a couple of days to my requested dates, as I would like to spend some time with you before we leave, so that we can get to know each other and to show you around to make you feel altogether at home!

This region is wonderful for hiking and biking. There are several ski-resorts close to where we live in the Jura (a 10-30 minute drive away): 2 for downhill skiing (Crozet and the Col de la Faucille) and a large area for cross country skiing (La Vattay-Valserine). Divonne-les-Bains is a quaint little town to visit (15 minute drive), with its Thermal Baths, Lake and Casino, and then of course there is Geneva !!!
