Needs and animals

Pet-sitting | Many plants | 3 Cats

We have three fluffy indoor cats that are allowed on the balcony but not outside of the apartment. They are used to being fed twice a day (7 a.m. and 7 p.m.) but can be left alone for up to 24 hours with food. There is a cat litter with a separate bin. Many plants, the ones on the balcony need to be watered every day in the summer.

House

We live on the fourth floor of a house from about 1890 in a historic und hip district of Dresden. There is a supermarket around the corner, and many opportunities for shopping and eating out in the area. There are also nice playgrounds nearby. Our home is very comfortable with two double and two single beds as well as two foldout couches. Very well-equipped kitchen. The apartment faces the train tracks on one side (where three of the bedrooms are), but the windows keep out most of the noise. One bedroom and a kitchen face the quiet back, and the kids frequently sleep on the balcony in the summer. There is a full set of weights if you like weight training. We also have fast wifi, board games, puzzles, books (many of them in English) and a guitar.

I had a great time at Katrin’s place, an open and welcoming family. Her oldest son brought me happily up to date about the care for the Kittens Lloyd, Louis and Lily. He was keen to tell me all about how to administer the meals (7am and 7pm sharp!), the care of the litter boxes and last but not least… the daily brushing, which I did with care and to the best of my ability… Katrin filled me in on the practicalities of the flat (4th floor, no lift), where to find what and how the machinery worked… (which includes a very handy robot called Dreame) ...and handed me the key, of course. The flat is spacious and easy to live in, with Katrin having a keen eye for design. It also has a very nice terrace full of plants and flowers (they do need water!), where you can enjoy the last hours of the day with the feline family happily at your side. It is situated near the Louisenstraße, Dresden-Neustadt, the “Young & Hip Neighbourhood of Dresden”, where you will easily find a nice coffee shop, the kitchen of the World, interesting shops, a big park ...and Graffiti…. It is also very near to the S-Bahn and tram-bus stations, but it takes just over half an hour walk to get to the Old Town where you will find all you have to know about Dresden History, the Museums with fascinating collections, beautiful (rebuild) historic buildings and facades and … chain shops. And if all that isn’t enough, there’s always the Elbe (along it, I recommand a very nice walk to Schloss & Park Pillnitz) … or a Beer Garden… Many hearty ‘thank-yous’ to Katrin and her family for giving me this most enjoyable opportunity! Highly recommand the experience, one of my best so far. Again, thanks a lot.
