We have two small black labrador dogs, Phoebe and Freya (sisters and quite energetic but very gentle). They have fun playing in our large fenced garden, but also enjoy being walked down our quiet lane. The cat, Baby, is fed when she turns up. The horses are fed hay and a supplement once a day but spend most of the time grazing in the field next to the house

You will need your own car, as the nearest village is two kilometres away so you can walk to it, but we are 12 kilometres from supermarkets and the nearest railway station. There are no buses! The nearest airport is Knock, 45 kilometres.

Tourism and Leisure

The rural county of Roscommon borders Galway, and has many interesting towns and villages. There is traditional music and dancing every Sunday night at our local pub in Ballintubber. Our nearest town is Castlerea, where there are bars, restaurants and supermarkets. The county town of Roscommon with its racecourse is only 20 minutes drive. Galway city, with it's exciting night life is less than an hour.

John est venu nous chercher à l'aéroport nous permettant de nous habituer à la conduite à gauche pour nous rendre à leur maison. Jules nous avait préparé un bon repas. Nous nous sommes sentis à l'aise avec avec eux. La convivialité étant de mise nous avons fait un karaoké à notre arrivée et la veille de notre départ. John nous a indiqué les lieux à visiter. Nous avons appliqué à la lettre ses recommandations tout en prenant soin de leur animaux. Nous aurons plaisir de les retrouver si l'occasion se représente. Corinne et Alex (tequila!!!)

It was a pleasure to house sit for John and Jules. They were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. They showed us around the local area and were very helpful with information on sites and events of interest. We'd never looked after horses before so didn't know what to expect. We soon learnt a good routine with them and they were very gentle animals. All the animals were lovely! We thoroughly enjoyed it and overall it was a great experience.
