Jan's house, which is actually two houses joined together, is a great old house that has been modernized with all conveniences, while retaining much of the original house's rustic features. The cats that co-occupy the houses are quite friendly...and entertaining and easy to take care of. There are large yard and garden spaces, as would be expected in a countryside setting. The hamlet is very small but only about 1 km from a small (and friendly) village...and two larger towns are less than 10 km away, so all necessities are within easy reach. And there are the local market days which cannot be missed...plus many exhibitions and shows of various artists in the area. There are a great many English inhabitants in the area, so many local residents have a good command of English. The general area of the Perigord Vert is very relaxing and the forest areas are beautiful. Jan provided great accommodations and made the house(s) a very welcome and satisfying house-sitting experience. We spent a month on location and enjoyed every day...and made several friends in the village. It was our first house-sitting experience and it was a delight...and has encouraged us to explore more sits.
