We had a fabulous stay at Fabienne’s and JP’s home in the Lot. The estate is just shy of an adorable medieval village that has everything necessary for a little sojourn, including pharmacy, weekly markets, some pubs and restaurants/snack shops and all of the other usual suspects in a village. You can manage without a car. The hosts had two bikes available but we generally just walked into town for drinks/dinner or shopping. The people in the village are very friendly and it is very safe. You’ll get to know people quickly if you spend a bit of time here. While we were here several nice families stayed in the gîte and we had the pleasure of getting to know some of them over meals together. The gig is welcoming the guests and making sure that they have everything they need for their stay (making sure everything is working in the gîte and on the property, maintaining the pool and yard, etc. and washing, drying and ironing the sheets at the end of each stay—it really is not a lot of work and quite enjoyable). The house where you will stay is next to the gîte. It has a lovely, enormous terrace, so even when there are guests in the gîte you have a bit of privacy and a place to be outside. The garden has tons of fruit trees like cherries and figs. The cherries were delicious! The house is decorated tastefully and everything is clean and tidy. The bed we slept on was very comfortable. It was very hot while we were here, so we appreciated the downstairs room, which was quite cool. And shuttering the shutters during the day really worked wonders for keeping the house cool until night. We also appreciated the chance to use the pool when guests were not there. There is also a nice pétanque court and a bonfire pit, but we didn’t use the latter. Fabienne is a superb hostess. She was very kind and patient and always kept us informed. She also took care to go out of her way to make us feel at home and spoke French VERY slowly to us, which we know is not so easy to do! It was very kind. She and her family met us at the end of our stay and we had a really lovely time with them sharing meals and going on an excursion to a medieval castle nearby on a day trip. We can’t recommend a stay here enough. Certainly one of our top all-time Nomador experiences! We recommend it without any reservations! We loved it!
