We have a very docile cat that is allowed to come in and go outside during the day as he pleases but has to come in whenever we leave the house and at night to sleep until the next day. We expect from a house-sitter to perform simple tasks: - Feed, take care and accompany our cat. The cat requires basic care: to have food and water (he has unrestricted access to dry food) and to have an occasional grooming (brushing). - Water some indoor plants and our "in progress" garden every couple of days or as needed depending on the weather. - Look after our home while we are away. - Enjoy the calm and natural surroundings of this unique region of Portugal.

On those dates we will certainly be away. We would ideally want to meet the house-sitters in the morning (April 1st) to explain everything, show them around the house and get to know each other in person. We could have some flexibility in regards to the termination date if it is not possible for the house-sitters to stay for the whole time.

Recently renovated house in typical Alentejo style in the countryside. It's a simple but charming home, close to the main cities and towns from central Alentejo such as Estremoz, Évora, Evoramonte and Arraiolos. An ideal place to enjoy the calm countryside and to discover the Alentejo's history, wineries, food and culture, and experience it's unique way of life. The house is located next to what used to be the train station of the town Vimieiro, which is just a 7 minute drive. There you can find all basic services: ATM, small but well stocked grocery store, gas station, a couple of cafes and simple restaurants. Lisbon is reachable in just an hour and a half drive. A vehicle is necessary to move around and do groceries.

It is a very peaceful environment where you'll be in touch with the unique way of life of this region. You'll be surrounded by the beautiful and typical Alentejan landscape filled with olive trees, cork and holm oaks, sheep, cows and black Iberian pigs roaming its pastures. All over the region you will find historical fortified towns, untouched nature, a unique culture, excellent food and wines, but most importantly friendly and kind people. You will have a lot of privacy and calmness staying in our home. The house is comfortable and easy to manage. It has all what you need: a well equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, two bedrooms, a simple but well distributed living-dinning room area, and the best, a backyard patio looking into a beautiful meadow. At the same time the house is very close to the most important cities of the region (Évora and Estremoz) where you will find diverse cultural activities, farmers' markets full with local and fresh products, top restaurants, big supermarkets, pharmacies, hospitals, etc.

Aina and her husband were wonderful hosts! We very much enjoyed our stay in their small Alentejo town looking after their cat, Ponchito. They are gracious, friendly and we feel fortunate that we were chosen by them to stay in their home.
