This housesit is for my house that is on a farm. I do not own the farm as a whole, so there will also be some need to communicate with the owner on a regular basis and also the possibility to also meet the owner before taking up the housesit, since you will be neighbours! Then, when I am away, some of the time you will liase with the owner about anything she might need assistance with. For example, this may be something such as collecting a box of oranges from the orange grove, when there are lunches or events at the farm, or collecting feed for the farm horse (named Maurice).
Likely chores on a regular basis will be, feeding chickens and opening and closing them at morning and night, collecting eggs, feeding hay when needed to donkeys, horses and sheep. Watering fruit tree saplings and plants, feeding the farm dog (a big friendly mountain dog called Cheese) also feeding the cat.

There may be additional gardening working such as weeding, generally keeping the place reasonable, or possibly something like painting or fixing the odd piece of fencing. So a little bit of knowledge about these things is useful.
The dates are not set in stone at all. The housesit is needed as I (Charles, the current resident) will be going elsewhere for work purposes. This will likely be in new year, spring 2018 and for minimum three months but ideally I will be at least 6 months needed., so this is something for someone who is set on the idea of really experiencing the life in this region for a while and is happy to do that.

Being a farm, there will be some basic chores as well that go with the housesitting to keep things ticking over. It will equate to around 2 or 3 hours per day, so this will suit someone who has lived on a farm previously. For example, a regular chore is feeding chickens and collecting eggs from around a dozen hens. or watering fruit tree saplings.
The rest of the time, the house has the peace and quiet ideal for your own projects.
Ideally, perhaps, someone with some visitor knowledge of Portugal but not essential, more essential is probably at least some previous experience of being on a farm.

Since I have been here, I work most of the time and am also I compose music and work on other personal projects in my spare time. So there is not a library full of books here, I have a few but I spend my time either DIYing, repairing old furniture, making things with my hands, gardening, walking, composing music, making some art and so on.
There is in summer, the possibility to swim in a large freshwater tank that are common here. The water comes from an underground spring source and the tank is like a giant swimming pool.container that keeps water for irrigation and for the buildings on the farm Again its not luxurious but it is certainly nice in summer to dive into !

The Farm and house is rural enough to feel like being in the countryside, with Arrabida Mountains close by but also, with a small town ten minutes walk with buses to Lisbon, or to the next largest towns, Setubal and Sesimbra are 25 minutes on bus. it is ok for someone without a car.
The largest regional monthly market is held in the town on the first Sunday every month, there are also regular flea markets twice every month.
So you have the chance to explore and hike the area a little as well as get to beaches and towns close by.
Ideal for someone who is looking for a bit of peace and quiet but not totally isolated in the middle of nowhere.

The city is busy with tourists all year around and locally to Lisbon, there is Sintra, a very popular destination for the palaces and gardens. If you wished to take one or two days off exploring, this would be ok as arranged with me or the owners of the farm.
There are also some places of interest closer than Lisbon. For example, there is a "music mechanisms" museum reachable by car.
Setubal City also has a venue called Casa de Cultura with various music, art or theatre events.
