Our house sitter needs to be comfortable being in the "country". It is quiet and peaceful, and has critter visitors (mostly friendly wildlife, but also some bugs, and occasional mice and snakes). So, ideally, this would be someone who is fairly self-reliant, okay being alone (or, bring a friend/partner!), and doesn't need a lot of entertainment or city-life!
We have one very friendly and lovable mixed breed dog that needs feeding and loves walks around the neighborhood.
We also have a garden and landscaping that requires watering every day in the summer, as well as chickens that need some attention.
We hope that whoever stays here truly appreciates the outdoors, wildlife, (birds!) and our beautiful setting, loves to hike, hang out, and enjoys dog company!
We'd like for our sitter to be around the place most of the days, but outings can certainly be accommodated.

We live somewhat remotely, at 5200' elevation, in Lyle Canyon, north of Parker Canyon Lake, and south of Sonoita and Elgin. It is 5 acres, down a few easy miles of dirt road off of hwy 83, a little over an hour from Tucson and 45 minutes from Patagonia or Sierra Vista.
It is a beautiful piece of property - a gentle grassy slope of Emory (live) oaks, so it is shaded year round. It adjoins National Forest, so there is plenty of great hiking/biking. All our closest neighbors (within a little walk's sight) are super friendly and helpful. Two neighbors operate their properties as Airbnbs and they are very consistently booked by birders and outdoorsy people. In general, visitors are amazed that property like this exists in Arizona! It is very unique.
Our home is approximately 1600 sq ft, cool in the summer, cozy in the winter and always comfortable. It has 2 bedrooms, and there is a 1 bedroom casita; both are enclosed by a lovely gated courtyard. There is a new bath house a few steps from the master bedroom, with a sauna, hot tub, shower, toilet and sink. There are other outbuildings and a vintage '70's …

The yard has many seating options for sun or shade and different views of the mountains and hills. It has a lovely enclosed courtyard. The bird watching is legitimately world class, and there is abundant wildlife that wander through the 5 acres.

Our lifestyle can perhaps be described as rustic country comfortable! We spend most of our time outdoors, enjoying the majestic beauty of the mountains and hills, one way or another. I hike and explore several miles most days, often encountering neighbors doing the same. There are approximately a dozen homes occupied year-round, each on at least 5 acres and patchworked in between and surrounded by, Coronado National Forest. Ultimately, the private land ends and the road continues many miles through the forest.
Our property and entire canyon neighborhood, are a sanctuary offering rare beauty, tranquility and all of nature's finest. It is peaceful and relaxing to enjoy the numerous outdoor seating options throughout the 5 acres, or to wander the property and neighborhood. There is an abundance of wildlife that wander through, and constant bird activity. We are surrounded by vast and rich grasslands, which are home to many historic cattle ranches. Ranching, ecotourism and wineries form the backbone of Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties.
We do have very high speed internet via Starlink satellite. We have a WiFi connected TV, with Netflix and plenty of channel options. We have no cell signal on the property, but WiFi calling works great. We …
