I'm a freelance writer and a woman over 50 who loves to travel, usually solo. I grew up with cats and dogs and love both but can't have any pets in my current apartment. I've cared for my own pets and have done a good deal of cat and dog sitting for friends here in Vancouver where I stayed in their homes while they were away for a week or more.
I've done some travel where you try to see everything and change locations every 2 or 3 days, now I'd like to go slower, find a favorite cafe, park and bookstore that I can return to - joke around with a waiter who remembers me from last time - that sort of thing.
I've been both a pet owner and a home owner, so there's a lot of things I can handle without panicking. Happy to keep you updated on what's happening around the house as much or as little as you want.

Tiva was a responsible house guest and clearly prioritizes the pets under her care. Any time I checked in, Tiva was quick to respond. Tiva is independent, comfortable exploring, and able to make decisions without needing to check in too much. I had peace of mind while away.

It's pretty rare that our cats warm up instantly to strangers, but when we sat down with Tiva they came over to check her out right away. One started rubbing against her ankles and even our standoffish cat sat down nearby to watch her the same way she likes to do with us. We left a pretty detailed list of instructions on how to care for them because there are some medicines involved - we were pretty sure we had covered everything but Tiva messaged us with a few good questions to be extra-sure she was giving them what they needed. We returned from our trip to a clean home and happy cats!
