I am an expat American writer and editor who has been living in Europe for the past 20 years, in France, Spain, and now the Netherlands. I am particularly looking for sits in northern or central France this August (2023).

I have housesat and cared for animals since the age of 19, when I first worked on a historic farm milking cows and caring for a herd of sheep.

When I became friends with a noted children's book illustrator, she was delighted to learn I knew how to milk, as I could milk her goats while she was away on her book tours. I not only cared for her goats, but also her chickens, cat, fantail doves, scores of birds (including two African parrots), and four corgis. She also had an extensive garden and greenhouse that I cared for in her absence, and I'm happy to say that nothing ever died!

I have since that time cared for others' pets while they were away, in addition to ensuring their homes were well taken care of and in pristine condition when they returned. I treat others' homes like my own (perhaps even better!) My partner, Roland, or my daughter, Maya, sometimes join me on a house sit, depending on the needs/wishes of the homeowner. Roland seems to be an animal magnet! Dogs just seem to love draping themselves all over him, which he loves. Maya is particularly fond of cats, but loves all animals.

In my spare time (not that there's much!), I enjoy creating late Victorian and Edwardian clothing and perfecting my clothing construction skills.
