Needs and animals

Look after the house | 2 Cats

I hav two cats, Whitey and Ginger, (both neutered and who were feral cats but are now outdoor cats (except in winter) but very friendly and love to be cuddled and stroked. I also have three dogs but will be taking them with me when I move down south. The cats just need to be fed (usually tinned meat in the morning and biscuits at night). In winter they live in the front door porch. If you want vegetables, you will have to plant them yourselves but the soil is great for growing so you shouldn't find it difficult.

Additional information about these dates

I will be travelling down south by car, so these dates are flexible. iDEALLY, i WOULD LIKE A SITTER FOR AT LEAST AYEARBUT SIX MONTHS WILL DO FOR STARTERS. I will be travelling down south by car so the start date is flexible. Ideally though, I would like a sitter for a year or longer if possible. I won't be returning to Bosilkovtsi myself, so the longer a family would like to stay the better.

House

Half renovated house with large garden (1,800 metres with vineyard at top end),, two bedrooms (1 double and 1 single) and one other room which can be a dining room or lounge, a fairly large renovated kitchen, a bathroom with showerroom... attached (both tiled and mostly renovated), hallway (used as a sitting room at present, There is a large barn with some small rooms which may have had animals in them in the past, a covered shed, a small garage and a fairly large storeroom, both needing TLC, a kennel or shed for storing wood, a garden room which used to be a bakery but now needs renovating and a small shop attached to it. There are two vegetable plots, bot of which have been used for growing vegetables and masses of fruit and nut trees. It's a bit of heaven on earth!

House | Village | View on the countryside

My home is rustic both in decor and in style! The walls are white and there is a wood-burning stove in the hallway which warms all the rooms off it...bathroom, two bedrooms and dining room cum lounge/study.

The countryside is relaxing and peaceful. There are two shops which sell a bit of everything, a post office, a hairdresser, a town hall and the mayor's office. The villagers are mostly friendly and helpful...some even speak a little English. I have lived here on my own for almost 10 years and have loved it, but I am 78 now and need to be near family. Occasionally there are festivals in the village. Byala is the nearest town, about 15 kilometres away by bus or car and is a small market town but can provide most of ones ordinary needs. Big suppermatkets such as Lidl, Kaufland, Mr. Broclage and shopping malls are in Ruse or Veliko Tarnovo and can be reached by bus or train inexpensively.

Tourism and Leisure

Museum

Veliko Tarnovo, the original capital of Bulgaria is a medieval town built into the hillside and is definitely worth a visit. You can get there by bus or train within an hour or so. Ruse is the opposite direction but is also a faily large city and is also reachable by bus or train. VT is also a university town and attracts a lot of foreign students. There other local attractions in the region such as a waterfall in Hotnitsa and rock churches in Ivanavo. There are museums in both VT and Ruse and, of course, Sofia, which is worth visiting but is a a four-hour journey away by bus or even longer by train! There is a military/war museum in Byala but I heven't visited it. I'm not a great sightseer at this stage in my life but there are plenty of interesting things to do and see in Bulgaria...Buses from Bosilkovtsi run every morning of the working week at 06.30 into Byala but do not return until about 17.45. I have done it many times. There is also a shoppers bus which leaves the village at 08.30 on Thursdays and which returns from Byala bus station at 12.30, arriving back at roughly 13,10..
