We have a well behaved ten-year-old Golden Retriever who needs one good walk every morning on a safe and well-used trail, plus two or three more potty breaks — mid-day, before supper, and before bed. He sleeps on his own bed in the master bedroom and isn’t allowed on furniture. He will demand head rubs and occasional attention and will tend to follow you from room to room. We also have two indoor-only ragdoll cats who need food and water daily, plus cuddles when they come for them.

We’re travelling to Kelowna to help our son and daughter-in-law pack and move and to meet our brand-new granddaughter. Our travel dates may change last minute if road conditions are dicey in the mountains, but we have a well-equipped guest room to accommodate you if there is overlap on either end.

Our home is quiet, private, well appointed, and comfortable. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, wanting for nothing. There is a barbecue on the deck, a private garden on the upper level, a private lawn area off the master bedroom, and a separate two-car garage as part of the underground parkade. There is a robotic vacuum that cleans the main level daily and a cordless dyson. There are three bedrooms, and three bathrooms with heated tile floors. The major hospital is a ten minute walk, as is a comprehensive shopping centre for virtually all your shopping needs. There’s a popular coffee shop two minutes away, and we’re spitting distance to regional trails that network throughout the city. Heat and air conditioning is controlled by a heat pump for continual comfort, and a gas fireplace in the living room.

We live beside an old Garry Oak forest, and our back yard overlooks the play field of an elementary school, so a couple of times a day, if you have a window open, you’ll hear the happy chatter of children. Walking and cycling trails are a minute away, and you’re a five minute drive to a freshwater lake and the Gorge, and ocean channel. If you have a car, you’re a 30-minute drive to the start of the world famous West Coast Trail, plus other freshwater lakes, trails, and beaches too plentiful to list. Downtown Victoria is about 20 minutes away, depending on traffic, where you’ll find the famous Empress Hotel, the Royal BC Museum, Fisherman’s Wharf, and endless restaurants and walks along the Inner Harbour.

Alison was very welcoming and thorough. She introduced me to the pets and showed me around her home and neighbourhood. She kept in good contact, answering any questions I had during my stay. The animals were very good natured and we had a great stay in Victoria for two weeks!
