Needs and animals

2 Cats

We have 2 cats, Vader & Mixto. They are brother & sister. Vader likes to be around us all the time. Mixto is the typical cat-when she wants. They come and go during the day, at night they stay in. All of their food will be precooked and ready, so all you need to do is feed them twice a day and make sure they have water and dry food down. They are house broke, so there is not a kitty litter box in the house. They occasionally like to play fetch-they may even get in the shower with you! We have potted plants on the 3rd story terrace and in the front and back yard that will need watering. Other yard work would include picking up leaves that fall off the plants as necessary. Our home is not spotless because we live on the beach and we have cats, but it's clean and tidy. Small, so everything has its place. Housework would include the normal of sweeping, mopping, dusting and since we live on the beach- the occasional cleaning of windows and screens so you can see out. House

We have a great little beach house located direct beachfront, at the very south end of Crucita. The area is far enough away from the malecon that it is secluded without much foot traffic, yet close enough for you to walk to town. Our yard is fenced and there is one other home in the yard (the owners are not full time residents). Come enjoy beautiful sunsets over the Pacific Ocean from the yard, 2 story balcony or 3rd floor terrace. Its an excellent place work on your tan, read, fish, walk, shell and so much more!

Sit and relax as you watch the sunset over the pacific from the yard, 2nd story balcony or 3rd story terrace. There is never a bad view! You can see the city skyline and lights of Manta to the south, to the north you can see San Clemente. Do you like to cook? There are 2 kitchens. Downstairs is the main kitchen. Upstairs on the terrace, the other (my husband's favorite!) We spend a lot of time up on the 3rd floor. Aside from the kitchen with Fridge, there is a table and chairs for dining and a sofa & chair for relaxing. I love to do my crafts here. There is also a 1/2 bath The bedroom is located on the mid level, it is open and has a sitting area. The laundry room is also located on this level and has both a washer and dryer. Usually there is a nice breeze flowing thru. There are 2 ceiling fans-one on each side of the room. We enjoy watching a netflix movie or popping in a DVD. The sofa also folds out in this room. This room is actually the master bedroom so there is a bathroom. As I mentioned earlier, the kitchen is on the 1st floor. It small but efficient. There is a breakfast bar to eat at. We have an outdoor shower to rinse off after a swim or long walk on the beach. If you don't like cooking, there are many restaurants located in town with great prices and great fresh seafood! The malecon and town is just a short walk way. There are small tiendas for supplies. On Saturday morning there is a local market to buy fresh veggies and fruit. Veggie trucks also come down our road if you can't make it to town. You can go directly to the fisherman on the beach to get your fresh supply of fish and shrimp for the day. Ecuador public transportation is great. For a small fee you can get anywhere in the country. The bus runs about every 15 minutes or so depending on where you are going. You can catch ride into Portoviejo or Manta (Manabi Province). Either town has Supermaxi (grocery store) and El Paseo Shopping Mall. Hospitals are also located in the larger towns, although Crucita does have a Dr and a clinic.

Tourism and Leisure

Crucita is a small fishing village, our home is located at the south end. Just above us is LaLoma restaurant - the jumping point for paragliders. If this is something you want to do or if you want to take lesson, this is the place to do it! The instructor lives right down the road. Manabi Province has many day trips to offer from hiking to breweries. In Sosote the are Artisans who make clay pots and others who make jewelry and other items from Tagua, a local nut. Monticristi is the home of the Panama Hat. Watch one being weaved, or watch a maestro make a wicker sofa. If you golf, Monticristi has a small course. Come explore, relax and enjoy!

Kim & Ken are amazing hosts. From the first skype call we felt like we had been friends forever. We had great communication right up until our arrival where Kim and Ken met us at the airport. We were so pleased to have a few social days with them as this gave us a chance to get to know each other, have a few meals together, meet with the locals and we got introduced to the expat community whom we could call upon for anything if needed. We had a fantastic two months at Crucita, made so many friends and we will always have very fond memories. Now the kids.... Vader & Mixto are the most beautiful ,adorable cats with wonderful character's..We especially miss their hugs. I want to thank Kim & Ken for entrusting us with their fur kids & home. We miss them all dearly and if ever back in Ecuador will be sure to stay with our new friends. For now we are social media friends and love getting gato photo updates. Best wishes Rosie & Simon.
