Needs and animals

All our animals are pretty easy to look after. Our golden-retriever was bred to become a dog for people with special needs, but she has back problems so can't work. She is very quiet and so sweet with everyone. She's very good with children especially ! She loves to walk and to swim, but also just to lay out in the shade of the garden trees. She needs to be fed twice a day, and enjoys a walk in the forest (and why not a little swim) everyday in the summer. Our two cats have very different personalities but they are both extremely sweet ! They have cat-flaps so they can go in and out as they please. Simone is extremely sociable and will follow you around everywhere, whereas Nina is extremely shy with strangers and will pretty much stay in our bedroom all day. You will need to fill their bowl with food and water once a day and occasionally clean Nina's litter. We only have one rescue chicken left, Joseph, who is probably six years old. She will need to be fed once a day. She also needs plenty of water and she'll enjoy any food leftovers ! …

House

Our house is our haven of peace ! It is situated half-way between Lyon and Geneva, just next to the Bugey mountains. It is down a path between a natural reserve (forest), the river Ain in which we swim every summer and some fields. You will find the medieval city of Pérouges 7 minutes away. All necessary shops are a 5-minute drive away in Meximieux. The house itself is comfortable and cool in the summer. We bought it eight years ago and renovated it entirely - although there is always work to do, especially outside where an original 1900 caravan is waiting for you to sleep in ! The inside of the house is entirely renovated, with 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms. My husband plays music, and there are many instruments to play on in the basement.

You will appreciate a cosy and (in the summer) a cool house, the quiet environment and the proximity of the river. Facilities and shops are 5 min away by car, in the town of Meximieux. There are many possibilities for outdoor activities: hiking, canooing/kayaking, accrobranche, easy strolls... You can reach the medieval town of Pérouges in 7 mn by car, Lyon in 35 min, Geneva in 1h.

We've been very lucky to get to know this wonderful family. We felt as if we were visiting old friends. Their animals are just adorable; Nina prefers her independence and we've been lucky to see her from a short distance, and the trio of Ostrale, the dog, Simone, the cat, and Joseph, the chicken, have given us affection and company and we have enjoyed giving them back. It's amazing how well the three of them get on, and how good-natured and sweet they are. We have also enjoyed the charming and comfortable house and the splendid garden, which is nature itself. We are thankful for their trust and for this great experience. We will miss all of them.

Il ya des rencontres où l'on a envie qu'elles durent un peu plus longtemps, c'est le cas avec la famille de Sophie ! Ils sont tous très attachants et leur maison est tellement agréable que même sans soleil on s'y sent bien. Sans parler des animaux qui font comme si ils vous avaient toujours connu, des amours ! Bref un séjour qui restera dans mon cœur ! Et surtout, visiter le parc qui est magique presque magique !
