Needs and animals

Pet-sitting | 1 Cat

This house/pet-sitting is meant for one or two people or a very small family. Our cat is now around 12 years old and healthy, but she gets very scared by noises and too many people around the house. She has a limp from a broken leg in early age but she can get around with no problem. She goes out for a little stroll, but she spends most of her time inside. She also has a litter inside. She doesn't like being picked up, otherwise she is very, very sweet and soft, although she needs time and gentleness to get used to new people. There is no catflap and she will need the door left opened while you are there so she can go out. It is very important that she is safely inside at night. We are looking for true animal lovers, who know how to make our cat feel safe. She has been looked after on various occasions, so she is used to the process.

There are lots of books mainly in English, but also some bilingual stories in Italian, Spanish and French. There is a vintage Yamaha keyboard and a guitar. Musical instruments must be played softly and not late, to respect neighbours.

The house is spacious and situated in a quiet neighbourhood, near the town centre. There is a park just outside. It is a short walk to beach. No parties or late night noises, as it's a very quiet building. There is a 42" monitor for plugging your device into, but there is no television connection, only wi-fi. The house has been undergoing renovation, there is more to do in the future, but meanwhile, it will be functional, comfortable and clean at the time of the pet-sitting.

Eastbourne is an attractive town (the centre is mostly Victorian) on the sea near Brighton (bus and train services) and not far from London (c. 80mins by train to Central London). The beaches are shingle and the west end of the beach backs onto the white cliffs of which Dover is famous. The town is full of parks (and there are a couple of golf courses) and is cleaner and a little more orderly than many other seaside towns. It is not as lively as nearby Brighton, but there are plenty of pubs, a bit of nightlife and plenty of eateries. Eastbourne is on the South Downs National Park, with walks from town and nearby to some beautiful places like Beachy Head (where you can see from Dungeness to Isle of Wight), Birling Gap, Cuckmere Valley/Haven (including a hillside white horse), Seven Sisters and Seaford Beach. By car you can easily reach Hastings (the "new Brighton"), Norman's Bay, Battle and the Long Man (all for history buffs), Bodiam Castle, Herstmonceaux Observatory, Dungeness, Brighton and a host of country houses and historic villages. Activities include water activities, historical places, walking, birdwatching, paragliding, horseriding, golf, pub lunches, and so on. But, …

I really enjoyed my staying at Valentina and Gabriel'. Grotti is a really nice cat. Very shy and fearful at first, she came to me and we had a nice time together. The accommodation was very agreable, clean and comfortable, I had everything I needed. Every thing was organized for my arrival and my staying. Everything went very well. Thank you Valentina, Grabiel, Jessy and Grotti for your confidence! I will be happy to return and take care of Grotti.

We were very happy with our two-week stay looking after Grotti for Gabriel and Valentina in Eastbourne. Grotti was delightfully playful and affectionate once she had got over her initial shyness on the first day. She enjoyed being petted and playing with a small ball and spent her days between the garden and the living room. Gabriel and Valentina’s house in Eastbourne was comfortable, with a pleasant garden, ideally situated in a very quiet neighbourhood, an easy bus-ride away from the city centre. They were very flexible concerning a later than expected arrival time due to plane problems and gave us all necessary information in real time concerning any queries we had concerning Grotti or the house. Their neighbour was also very helpful. Overall, we would highly recommend this family and Grotti, whose sweetness we already miss!

Gabriel and Valentina warmly welcomed us into their home and their hamlet. They gave us detailed instructions, even introducing us to their friendly neighbours in case we needed them for anything. Their home is well placed within the Bergamo region. Lot's to see and do within an hours drive radius. We easily found our way around, and found places such as cafes, shops and parks locally. More importantly their little cat who we already miss so much is delightful. She has the most beautiful nature. So affectionate, gentle and loving, and we really enjoyed being at home with her. Highly recommended.
