Pet-sitting | 2 Cats

I have two sister cats who are about 3 years old and full of spunk. They are very social and very different. One is a buff tabby named Lila who is cuddly in her own time but loves to be petted, except for her tummy. Emma is a multi colored calico who is the cuddle bug of the two and will roll over right in your arms to get her belly rubbed. Lila likes to fetch and will bring little play mice for you to throw. Emma just wants you to know when she has a mouse and get the praise and pets. They are healthy and very active. My main expectation with them is that they get lots of attention and love. They will horn in on any couch time you take. Of course, there is the litter box to be looked after. I scoop it daily and have a receptacle (the Litter Genie) next to the box that keeps the smell in and needs to be emptied once a week. I also change the litter and clean out the box 1 time a week. They are very tolerant of the box being scooped less often, but I …

I scoop it daily and have a receptacle (the Litter Genie) next to the box that keeps the smell in and needs to be emptied once a week. I also change the litter and clean out the box 1 time a week. They are very tolerant of the box being scooped less often, but I notice sometimes they leave little gifts right outside the box when I haven't been diligent about scooping. They eat twice a day and have treats a time or two per day, NO people food, OK, maybe a little cooked chicken or turkey on occasion...we're not monsters, after all;-). Mostly, love them. While they know which surfaces they are allowed on, I still use a light touch with the squirt bottle if they are doing something they are not supposed to. Of course, there is LOTS of evidence that they break the rules all the time when I leave the room. So no food left unattended on the counter or tables so you don't end up with food on the floor or tummy troubles that need to be cleaned up later, yuck. The cats stay strictly indoors. I'll trim their claws before I leave, so you shouldn't have to worry about that. There are a few house plants that need watering and we will leave detailed instructions about those. Should not take more than 5-10 minutes once a week. The garbage has to be put out once a week and the recycling every other week. Both are in bins in the garage. If we take our car on vacation you're welcome to use the garage, though there is not space for a large SUV or truck. Though parking can be challenging, you can always park in our driveway.

The dates are fairly firm. I'd welcome the house sitters to come the day before I leave to get acquainted with the house, the neighborhood and one another.

House

I hope you will make my home yours during the time you stay here. Try looking at the pics full page as they are less stretched or scrunched. I live in a larger corner row house in the Canton neighborhood. It's a great block with friendly neighbors who look out for one another. There is a large urban park across the street with sledding hills in the winter and ball fields, weekly concerts and many festivals during the summer. Also, a great place to take a long walk any season. The house is 3 stories with all the latest amenities, including a new kitchen that is fully stocked for any cooking adventures you may want to head down. The master bed and bath suite is available as well as another full bedroom/bath in the basement. I prefer only to have the designated house sitter(s) who have been checked out by this site stay in the house. A key asset of the location is that it is highly WALKABLE: - 10 minute walk to the waterfront, and "promenade" bike and walking path that stretches for mile along the harbor - 10 minute walk to O'Donell Square...a hopping younger crowd on the weekends and …

There are many, and I mean many, pubs and restaurants within a couple blocks and a bus route to downtown Baltimore on the corner.

As I said earlier you will be within walking distance of anything you need, day to day. There are multiple grocery stores within an easy drive, shopping malls and box stores just outside the city, and lots of strip mall shopping with some chain stores and restaurants as well as locally owned pubs and wonderful restaurants. Not much maintenance to do besides tidying up before our house cleaners come in, which is every other Monday. You have a full size washer and dryer with clothes hampers to separate your clothing. Baltimore is a great city. It was not a destination city for my late partner and me, but we heard about it from friends and came here in the boat we were living on. We spent a few months here on the water and decided to put down roots about 8 years ago. The bad stuff you hear about Baltimore are all things that you hear about any large city. There is crime and you need to be aware of your surroundings and need to be diligent about locking the doors. Art galleries, a great performance and art space a few blocks away, the Aquarium in the inner harbor, museums, a wonderful promenade that winds it's way from the inner harbor all the way to the Korean War Memorial Park and it can be accessed just at the end of our street. Where to begin...how about here... https://baltimore.org/what-to-do/museums-attractions/ Patterson Park, across the street, has wonderful walking paths, beautiful trees and gardens, a big lily pond and many sports fields. Creative Alliance, a quirky, amazing performance space and gallery with 2-3 inexpensive music/film/spoken word performances and classes per week is just half a mile down the block. I love the National Aquarium, the Visionary Art Museum, Charleston Restaurant for special occasion dinners, Marta or Sally O's for very casual but amazing food, Power Plant Live! has many entertainment venues, bars, and restaurants. And so much more. And, Baltimore is a great city. It was not a destination city for us, but we heard about it from some friends and came here in a boat we were living on. Bill's home is spectacular. He is so friendly and was so nice to pick me up at the airport and show me around town and recommended many fun things to do! The Creative Alliance which is a 10 min walk from the house has many fun and interesting shows to attend. Patterson Park across the street is a beautiful, lively park with great atmosphere, I liked hanging out there! Sharky's the corner bar was probably my favourite bar, Jen the bartender there is so fun and everyone at the bar are friendly, I made some great friends there! The house is so beautiful, artistic and everything very tidy and comfortable! Emma and Leila are wonderful kitty girls. They have a strong bond and are very friendly, well behaved and cuddly 🫶 They love to play and I really enjoyed playing with them. This stay was so pleasant and I would love to come back, I felt safe and comfortable the whole stay. Plus Baltimore is an AMAZING city and walking down town to Fells Point was so fun, a short walk with many restaurants and cool shops! Federal Hill is also fun to check out😊

What a lovely stay I had at Bill's house !! His young cats are loving, fun and easy-going, with a strong personality that makes them all the more endearing. The house has all the comfort you can dream of. Bill is extremely considerate and does his very best to make sure you feel at home and that everything is going smoothly. Overall, this was a heart-warming experience that I will renew with great pleasure if the need arises. What's more, Baltimore was in itself a very pleasant (and totally unexpected) discovery : the promenade on the waterfront, the music venues, the artistic life, the open-mindedness of the local people makes it a delightful city that can compare with Boston in some way. You should definitely give it a try - I am myself not very tall or sturdy, i was on my own and felt very safe in this fun, vibrant environment.

Bill's professionally decorated home is a delight to live in. It is well organized with every comfort, from the beautiful and well-equipped kitchen to the super-comfy bed. Located in Baltimore's Canton neighborhood and right across the street from Patterson Park, the home is in a combination of urban and country. Bill is helpful with recommendations for cultural happenings as well as introducing us to neighbors. The two kitties, Lila and Emma are young and energetic--two of our favorites! A lovely sit!
