We have ducks, chickens, geese, rabbits and quail (+ 2 dogs and 2 cats). Our set-up is easy to maintain but requires 2x day management (about 45 min in the morning and 15 min in the evening). You cannot miss the evening lock-in due to the risk for our free-ranging animals. We have various fruit trees and a small garden that needs watering, most on automatic timers.
The cats live in the garage and just need some love and food 2x day. The dogs are very friendly and love to join in the farm tasks. They would stay in the apartment with you and be fed 2x day.
We will only be gone about 10 days but if traveling internationally, you can stay up to a month with far less to do while we are onsite. (Accommodation for our family is separate from the apartment for house sitters.)
Small miscellaneous tasks might include rolling up the trash on trash day or checking the mail.

Our home is a working farm with incredible views. It's an enjoyable location close to Austin but you need to be fit enough to walk up the hill on our property. The apartment on the property is a large 1-room studio with queen bed, kitchen (full size oven and fridge), office inlet and large, step-in shower. You also have use of the 16 ft long swim spa and deck at the main house. (FYI the lake you see in some pics isn't often full, especially during summer months).

The property is a bird lover's paradise with large cranes swooping in the valleys and visits from hummingbirds at the feeders. It is also enjoyable to watch the ducks take care of one another.The animals are a chore but also a treat... the rabbits for instance get overjoyed if you pull them some weeds in the morning. If the lake isn't dry, you can kayak and swim from the dock but the lake has been low for a few years now.

There are 2 large grocery stores within 3-5 miles along with other necessary places like restaurants, cafe's, doctors, movie theaters, gyms, parks, pharmacies, etc. There are several restaurants along the water, a huge zipline and 2 waterparks several minutes away on Lake Travis. We have 2 marinas around the corner from our house but the road is busy so you need to drive, ideally.
