Pet-sitting | Pool maintenance | 2 Dogs

I have one small (19 lb) mix, "Ginger," and a teeny-tiny (5 lb) teacup poodle, "Peanut." They spend their summer days zooming around the yard. I let them out every few hours, and walk them once a day, either down the road a bit, of on the trail in the woods. The dogs also get fed breakfast and dinner.

PLEASE NOTE that since you can't delete photos on this site, the photos of the pets in this listing are mostly old (and gone :( ) Our current pets– 2 dogs– are in the last photo, on the beach. We no longer have any farm animals. Restored farmhouse in the country, adjacent to acres of wooded hiking trails. The area is an outdoor sports paradise, with tons of mountain biking, hiking, downhill and cross-country skiing nearby. I have 2 small dogs.

There are plenty of books on the shelves, two porches for lounging, plus an outdoor hot tub and a pool (in summer only). Vegetable garden, fruit trees, and all kinds of berries available for picking, when in season. There are snow shoes and sleds for your use in the winter.

Our house is very quiet and secluded, sitting on 66 acres, which are mostly wooded. There are walking trails surrounding the property, and a large meadow with a wonderful view just a 10-minute walk through the woods. There is a small television in the den with Netflix, Hulu, etc accounts for streaming movies. There is a hot tub outside for use year round, and a pool for summer use. The towns of Waitsfield and Waterbury are each just 10-15 minutes away, with great restaurants, shopping and fun activities. We have wifi, and the internet is good– fine for zoom calls and streaming video.

The Mad River Valley is a popular destination in the summer for its swimming holes, farmer's markets, excellent local breweries and food producers, covered bridges and beautiful scenery. There are great hiking trails in the area, as well as an excellent network of mountain biking trails. Early October is the height of foliage season. December through March are ski season, with Sugarbush and Stowe ski resorts within 20 minutes away. Additionally, there are many backcountry and cross-country ski trails in the area, with a few right out the back door. Our favorite winter activities are sitting by the fire, reading a book and sledding in the yard.

We absolutely LOVED our 3 weeks at Susie & Dave's lovely home and feel blessed for the opportunity to care for all their wonderful animals. Having use of their car was greatly appreciated and we really enjoyed snowshoeing around their vast property. We also enjoyed getting into the barn making sure the sheep and Kai the cow had warm, comfortable bedding. We miss our daily greetings from all the sheep who all know their names, especially Goggles who loves a good petting :) We definitely had a lot of fun with the inside rescue kids, Peanut and Ginger. It didn't take them long to warm up to us as we took on their easy to follow routines that Susie has obviously spent a lot of time creating for them to trust and rely upon. They are both adorable and we look forward to being able to return in future to see them again and spend more time with Dave & Susie.

Susie and Dave are wonderful, generous, and prepared hosts! The house, neighbourhood, and area radiate beauty and warmth, and I felt immediately welcomed as part of the family. They had prepared all the resources, information, and contacts I would need to feel safe and confident while they were away, and were excellent at guiding me through the caretaking tasks for the furry friends, before their departure and during my stay as well. They also generously encouraged me to take advantage of winter gear and the beautiful trails nearby. One of the loveliest house-sitting experiences. Thank you Susie and Dave!

Susan was such a lovely person to meet and very gracious of me getting there early due to snowy conditions. She checked in often to see how the dogs, sheep and cow were doing which I appreciated and was easy to reach when I had my own questions. What a lovely spot they have up on the hill, I enjoyed the animals and the surrounding area. Had a few adventures while I was there, but happy I could take care of things while they were away. Great people to housesit and animal-sit for.
