Barbara and her son made me feel so very welcome when I arrived two evenings before their departure. They took me places so that I would know where I could buy groceries along with an orientation of their nearby city, Lyon. We even went sightseeing and this before she had to get the two of them ready for a long international trip! She even made us for supper a local specialty and did so much over and above what I expected. Thanks to all our communication ahead of time, it felt like I was meeting friends that I just hadn't met in person yet. It was a great opportunity to live like a local even though the month of August isn't the best month for that as many French people take their holiday then, with businesses in smaller centres closed for several weeks. Barbara, her son and the animals added many dimensions to my life and I'm so glad for the experience. Hopefully, we can remain friends as people who are kind, thoughtful and considerate make for good friends, something you can never have enough of.
