i am a native new yorker & experienced house sitter currently traveling in the eu. i am very private, independent, resourceful and conscientious. i treat this exchange as a temporary professional connection between strangers who love animals and travel.

therefore, i value direct & clear communication so i am set up to successfully care for pets & homes. as you are already familiar with your home, animals and routines, thoughtfulness behind your expectations for someone who isn’t is critical to this exchange. gracious consideration for the fact that i’m also adjusting to different countries/cultures/languages/time zones (as well as your home & animals) while still living my own life is much appreciated.

i prefer clean and sanitary homes which i leave in the condition i find them. other than that, i am open to different types of locales and topography. (yes, new yorkers can thrive outside of large cities!)

i also request a guidebook with detailed pet and home care instructions (feeding schedules, vet contacts, etc.) so i can create a routine within my own schedule & things run smoothly. this means you can enjoy your travels without constant contact — with the exception of updates about your adorable animals, of course. it’s also vital for potential emergencies while you’re overseas so that i can stay safe and keep your pets and home safe as well.

my best sits have been with homeowners who, like me, are appreciative, clear & thorough, intentional, respectful (of my space, time and privacy), are gracious and who have a sense of humor. they understand that i am traveling & have my own life and that i’m doing my best. i offer that same grace. we also both acknowledge that this is a temporary connection in which we both have responsibilities and respectfully compromise when necessary.

most of all, basic respect, kindness, clear communication, emotional maturity & boundaries are of utmost importance to me. they are how i operate and what i expect so that this exchange remains professional, pet/home-focused and equal. i respect that your time is yours to enjoy your travels and expect the same while i am housesitting.
