We are an older Belgian couple (62), living in the very beautiful historic Flemish city of Ghent. I have three children now in their twenties, and so lots of time. We like to discover new landscapes and large cities, especially by bike and walking.
In most cases, Paul would come alone to sit, as he has more holidays. I normally come by car and bring my bike with me.
WHY I WANT TO HOUSESIT
For several decades I have been a journalist/author specializing in hiking, cycling and kayaking. Since a year, I have no more daily obligations, and so time to do the two things that have always been my passion: discovering new regions and cities in Europe from the inside, and walking, walking and walking (and also a bit of cycling). Housesitting allows me to combine those two passions at a low cost.
In addition, I also think that I have something to offer to owners. Given my age, I have built up a lot of life experience, I raised three children and managed and maintained various homes. Responsibility and respect are two values that I appreciate most, and therefore also am happy to give to others.
MY EXPERIENCE
We have a rabbit and three cats (who are taken care of by family members when we're away) and know how treat them well and how to make them feel comfortable. In the past I have had dogs and different farm animals, a.o. chickens, rabbits, goose etc.
