Lindsay&graham love cats!

Hello!
I am Lindsay and my husband is Graham. We are a non-smoking, English- and French-speaking couple from Scotland, now living in the French Alps. This is an astonishingly beautiful area, ideal for walking, cycling, rafting, para-sailing and, of course, skiing. We are both fit and active and enjoy the outdoors and nature.

Our other interests include art, antiques, interior design and reading (preferably with a cat on my knee) for me, and cooking and music - listening to as well as playing the piano and composing for Graham.

For most of our working lives we were self-employed, owning and running a restaurant and then later a small hotel in the Highlands of Scotland. After we sold the hotel, we lived in Edinburgh for a few years where we both worked in the Royal Botanic Garden, before moving to France in 2004. We carried on in the hospitality sector here, working for a chalet management company. This involved preparing chalets and apartments for the arrival of owners or their clients (cleaning, cleaning and cleaning!), meeting guests at the chalet and showing them around, helping with tourist information and sorting out any problems at the property. We held the keys to around 20 properties, from a cosy studio apartment to a sprawling, multi-level (which kept us fit!) 7- bedroomed chalet.

Why we want to house sit

We no longer have any pets of our own and although we do really miss having one around, we aren't ready to adopt another just yet. This means, of course, that we have plenty of love to spare for yours!

We've always enjoyed getting to know new places in depth (not just dashing around the touristy bits) so the idea of living in and looking after a proper home in a real community, even for a short time, really appeals, especially if there might be a pet or two for us to spoil as well. Castles and museums are great, but sitting with a book to read and a pet to stroke is pretty near perfect!

We like the things that this site promotes - trust, respect and sharing and freely given home and pet care in exchange for freely given accommodation. We think it is a privilege to be invited to stay in your home.
