A Bit About Us

Hello! We have been married for fourteen years and recently left our home in New York City to start an extended journey of international housesitting. We hope your home can become a part of our long-term adventure! Both of us are writers (you can find Heather’s novels under the name Heather Demetrios), and Zach is a licensed and certified English teacher. Zach habla español fluido and we both speak un peu français.

We're big animal lovers and love a good snuggle with the animals in our lives. We’re not smokers or partiers, and are very tidy. We live for new experiences, and are mostly seeking long housesits (ideally 3+ months, but at least a month). We treat your home and pets as though they are our own.

As lifelong travelers who have visited 30 countries, we understand how important it is to know that the things and creatures you value are well cared for in your absence. There is nothing more stressful than worrying about what’s happening hundreds of miles away. We've always appreciated the kind people who have cared for our pets and home while we have been off traveling, and we will bring that same care and attention to your home and pets. We also enjoy staying in touch with our homeowners while they’re away – we are happy to send pictures of your place or pets as often as you like.

Why We Love to House Sit

Apart from our love for animals, we both hit our mid-thirties recently and realized it was the perfect time to start a new chapter in our lives. Housesitting is ideal for us because we're both travelers and homebodies by nature, so the idea of going far away and then settling in somewhere for a while suits us perfectly.

As writers (and online English teachers), our schedules are very flexible and we can work from anywhere with a good WiFi connection (an absolute must!). This allows us to have new experiences while still tending to our work, opening us up for long stretches of housesitting. We've also really enjoyed our Airbnb experiences and we love feeling like we're at home while also exploring new areas.

We're addicted to travel. It’s our favorite thing to do together. We enjoy immersing ourselves in other cultures, and haven't had any trouble making friends with locals or navigating new places. Travel also gives us great story ideas, and allows us to do research for current (and future) projects!
