We have two cats that love attention, they need to be fed twice a day, one needs to be let in and out, and kept in at night. One cat is older and needs medicine once a day in the morning and she also uses a kitty litter, so that needs to be kept clean. We also have quite a few indoor plants that need watering. If it snows, you will need to clear the driveway but that just adds to the charm of this house. We would prefer non-smoking animal lovers please.

The house is very relaxing and hard to leave once you are here. There is immediate access to countryside walks from the house and the house is surrounded by hills, forests and fields. it's very relaxing to sit in front of the log fire or on the terrace when the sun is out. Vesancy is a very picturesque French village with a Chateau and lovely old houses, and is situated 5 mins drive in-between two main small towns - Divonne Les Bains and Gex. You will need to be able to drive as there is no public transport to the village, but with a car it's really easy. Divonne has a lake that you can swim in in the summer or walk around in colder months ,there are also lots of restaurants, shops and a few bars. There is a good bakery in both villages and a baker who bakes the best bread in France (in our opinion!) who parks a small "épicerie" van in front of the Chateau in Vesancy twice a week. We are also very close to the Swiss border, and It takes 25 mins to drive into Geneva and there is no shortage of …

We often get snow around the house, which is very beautiful, the Jura is on our back doorstep, and the nearest ski slopes in France are around 25 minutes drive. In winter: Vesancy is at 650m so there is a good chance of snow. The area has plenty of great hill and forest walks. There are also plenty of ski fields as close as 25 minutes to 1.5 hours drive from our house. We have underfloor heating and a great fireplace so the house is very cosy. In summer: There are lots of places to swim from 5 to 20 mins away. Divonne has a large lake that you can swim in or you can swim in Lac Leman - only 20 mins by car. We are at the foot of the Jura Mountains and close to Switzerland where you can visit Montreux, Vevey, Gruryere, Villars or stay in France and go to Chamonix and Mont Blanc or Lyon - all these places are only 1.5 hours by car and can be done in a day.

Merci à Melissa,et son beau sourire, à Max super sympa, pour leur accueil convivial et chaleureux,la maison est agréable,lumineuse. La région, super pour des petites ou grande ballades,variés est pleines de surprises. Même si nous sommes proche de la région(ht savoie )le dépaysement était au rendez vous. Nous avons appréciés la douce et sympathique compagnie des 2 chats ,le calme de la campagne,avec météo au beau fixe et pleins d'autres belles choses ..... Pas de problème,si besoin, de renouveler ce gardiennage ,avec plaisir. Nous souhaitons à Mélissa,Max , leurs filles,Serafina et Grace, une heureuse continuation dans leur vie et projets de tous les jours. A peut être une autre fois. Christine Didier

Melissa was a very good host and we were very pleased to look after her home and pets. She and her family were very welcoming and their house is situated in a village nestled at the foot of the Haute chaîne du Jura. There are very nice views from the house and a small chapel (Chapelle Riantmont) at the top of the hill behind it. In winter, there is the added interest of snow and we enjoyed a day of snowshoeing on virgin powder ???? (ski and snowshoe rental is nearby). On the sunny days, a walk beside Lac Leman (Geneva) was also very beautiful. There was a dog and two cats to look after. We enjoyed walking with Coco, the dog, who is very affectionate and well-behaved. We didn't have to leave Vesancy to find plenty of suitable and scenic walks, while the nearby mountain reserve of Jura offers some nice walks with views across to the Swiss Alps, including Mont Blanc. In addition, the Intermarche supermarket in nearby Gex offered a veritable cornucopia of multicultural food products. It was really a pleasure to explore this stunning region and meet Melissa and her family.

Melissa is a wonderful homeowner. She met us at the airport, conducted a tour of the surroundings and her beautiful house. We also got a lot of tips about places we can visit in the area. Melissa very graciously allowed us to use all the comforts of her house and provided all the necessary food. The dog and 2 Melissa's cats are very affectionate animals - take care of them gave us a lot of pleasure. Thank you very much for the magical time spent by the fireplace and for walks in the beautiful surroundings with your kind dog.
