I’m a single woman, with 3 degrees including a PhD in Law, and a dual citizen of the UK and Canada. Formerly an academic human rights lawyer and international project manager, I’m now working on books, articles, and illustrations every day. I would be delighted to be your Artist in Residence.
I’ve cared for my own homes and own pet cats and dogs, and done some sitting, for decades. Since 2 January 2019 I’ve been house- and pet-sitting full-time, for all but 11 nights: in Belgium, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the UK; from small walk-up Ikea-furnished flats to antique-filled costly homes with large gardens, rural and urban; with cats and dogs large and small, young and old; fish, donkeys, sheep, and chickens too. I’ve helped tropical plants and bonsai trees stay healthy, as well as more regular house and garden flora. I have an unbroken record of not breaking anything that wasn’t already broken, and want your living things to not only be alive, but to thrive.
Sitting has not only helped me to spend time on my startup rather than have to work overseas again in Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand or etc in jobs that come with accommodation, but has also enabled me to meet lovely animals and people in new and wonderful places.
I can provide other references from other websites and word-of-mouth sits. My approach to sitting is two-fold: to care for your home and beloved pets as you would, and to do so in as sustainable a way as possible.

Rachel est une personne très gentille avec qui il a été particulièrement agréable d'échanger. Elle s'est complètement adaptée à nos contraintes d'horaires et nous avons pu nous voir pendant la semaine avant qu'elle ne garde Maika. Nous avons été très touchés de recevoir un joli collage mettant en scène notre petit chat. Nous avons été très heureux de lui confier nos animaux et notre appartement et de lui faire plaisir. Nous la recommandons sans hésiter.

In full confidence, I enjoyed handing over the caring for my cat, my house, my garden, my compost worms for Rachel's loving care and attention. It was a perfect match to have her in my house, a wonderful person to get to meet, and I enjoyed that she kept me updated on how my cat was doing. I came back to a perfectly cleaned and welcoming home. Thank you, Rachel. You were the best of house guests and Kura clearly missed you after you had left.
