I’m from Scotland originally but have lived in Cambridge, England, for many years, where I studied biology then worked in education and with charities. These days I work on a freelance basis with various non-profit organisations and foundations, and feel very lucky to have a varied and interesting work life with opportunities to meet different people and travel to different places.
I travel solo and I really enjoy travelling slow, taking the time to get to know a place and experience what it might be like to live there. When I have the opportunity, house sitting and caring for pets and plants adds another layer of goodness to that experience! It's such a pleasure and a privilege to be able to see a place from someone else's viewpoint, and I think it's great how communities like Nomador connect people who can help each other out in a balanced, mutual way.
What's more, I love animals and although I had pets growing up (dog, cat, gerbils) so far my lifestyle hasn't been compatible with me having my own pet, so it's a true joy to look after other people's animals :)

Three badges are not enough for Rachael! I recommend her highly, and what a lovely person too. Our exchange was easy and straightforward from first contact through zooming and meeting on the day I left. We made it easy for one another, both clear about expectations, both keen that the other felt comfortable. Her bond with Beckett (my sweet undemanding and very affectionate cat) was so apparent, she really cared for him (I think it was mutual!), my plants and my home. She took the stress out of my being the other side of the world for a month. Rachael is responsible, capable, kind and uncomplicated. She kept in touch but didn’t bother me. Beckett and me got lucky and I think we have a new friend for life!

We consider ourselves very lucky to have had Rachael care for our home and dog, Nutella, during the 2 months we were away. She is reliable, respectful, friendly, tidy and independent. Our cleaning lady enjoyed interacting with her and mentioned how friendly she was and how well she cared for our dog. Rachael was a wonderful pet sitter. She communicated with us pretty much daily. She developed an obvious connection with Nutella. She did all we asked and more for our Nutella. We’d love to host Rachael again in the future shall our stars align again. Thank you so much Rachael!

Rachael looked after my house and three dogs for three weeks, and I couldn't be more grateful. Rachael is an amazing person and house/petsitter. She kept me informed about the dogs and when they got sick, she was caring and attentive and made sure they had what they needed to get better. She's reliable, independent, grateful and very kind. She is also tidy and took good care of my home. I highly recommend her as a house/petsitter! Thank you very much for everything, Rachael, You are always welcome back!
