Hello and thank you for reading our profile! We are a retired, active, adventurous American couple who had the good fortune to go anywhere in the world (pre-covid of course) and have been on the road since 2016. We rode out the pandemic in New Zealand for the past two years and we are now in Brisbane, Australia. We are both fully vaccinated and boosted and follow all COVID protocols. We would expect the same of our potential homeowners. We both have FBI background checks that were necessary for immigration and visa purposes in New Zealand. Over the years, we have found that we work best with decisive and responsive homeowners. We are also extremely tidy, organized and conscientious, and enjoy sitting for like-minded people.
House sitting and caring for your pets is such a perfect match for us. It allows us the opportunity to travel to non touristy locations and experience local culture, meet new and interesting people, and experience a variety of homes and lifestyles while providing excellent care for your furry family.
As mentioned above, we are experienced, full time house sitters and have completed 92 sits since January 2018. These assignments have given us the opportunity to care for 66 cats, 104 dogs, a host of goats, sheep, cows, pigs, alpacas, horses, exotic birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and far too many chickens to count! We also had the unique opportunity to care for a farmed herd of Red deer! Additionally, we have experience with pools and koi ponds. We are also current members of Trusted Housesitters, Aussie Housesitters and Kiwi Housesitters and can provide you with links to our profile page with reviews.
The dogs we have looked after have been all sizes, breeds and temperments. They have included dogs ranging from timid rescues requiring lots of patience, to elderly dogs requiring medication, to young, boisterous pups with lots of energy! The cats have included many breeds and personalities, some have been very cuddle loving and others very independent, and a few have been keen hunters that would occasionally bring us gifts.
We have taken care of a wide range of properties, from urban flats to rural homes to farms, both large and small, and some with heavy gardening responsibilities.
Having been homeowners for 35 years, we are practical, resourceful and fully committed to our responsibilities as your trusted house sitter!

Mary and Ken came to us for the second time, and stayed for 5 weeks. We felt very confident in their ability to look after our cat and home. We feel we have got to know them now, having shared a few meals and conversations. They sent us frequent updates on our cat, and greeted us home with a lovely meal and wine. Ken seemed to really enjoy doing some gardening, which we appreciated as well. This was a very positive experience and we would be happy for them to house sit again.

Mary & Ken cared for our house and dog from January 29 to April 25, 2018. They did an excellent job of caring for both. This couple initiated face time conversations via WhatsApp and other FaceTime media a few times before arriving. This was a great idea because it helped all four of us to have the benefit of conversation vs. texts or emails about things that mattered most to us in their care of our home and dog. It also helped them to clarify any questions they had about our home and dog. Plus, it's a great way to begin to get to know each other. We agreed for them to bring their own dog and cat after discussing pros and cons of doing so. Mary & Ken were open minded, attentive and respectful of our wishes and wants. Turns out to have been a brilliant idea because all three of the pets got along great and we think it made the experience even better for our dog, who likes furry company. Mary & Ken had to manage a medical emergency with our dog during our absence. We were difficult to reach to communicate with at first and so they had to make important decisions on our behalf. Once we were in contact, their communications were excellent. They were great advocates for our dog and our wishes for his care. They provided wonderful care for him during his recovery. We were able to return home to happy, healthy dog! Mary & Ken took good care of our home. It was sparkling clean and beautiful when we arrived. They also provided dinner upon our arrival. We had a lovely evening talking with them about all that had happened and traded travel stories. It was like catching up with old friends. We are very pleased with the excellent care that Mary & Ken gave our home and dog. We highly recommend them as house and pet sitters. Thanks so much Mary & Ken.

Mary & Ken were excellent house sitters. They stepped in at short notice when we were let down by another Nomador sitter. We had really good communication with them both before and during the sit. They sent photo's of Alfie (cat) while we were away, which showed him being happy and content. Ken loved working in our garden too, mowing the lawn and raking the leaves. When we returned the house was cleaner than we left it. As our first experience of Nomador it was a huge success, Mary & Ken are coming back to sit for us again for a month next year. We look forward to seeing them again.
