Hello! My name is Julia and for most of the year, I live and work in the US, in the state of Minnesota. I am adventurous, intelligent, hardworking & curious. I am also independent, quiet, organized, and am content to be in nature, reading, and spending time with animals. I have extensive travel experience around the world: Central America, Europe, Africa, Japan, etc.
I’ve been teaching in public schools for 30+ years and traveled regularly with my students. These days I prefer not to be a tourist, but to travel by settling into new places for extended periods of time to experience the local life and connect to people.
I’ve always had pets or taken care of others’ pets. My first cat Koozya lived to be 18, Simba (a giant 115-lb German Shepherd dog) passed away 10 years ago at age 11. These days I own 2 large black cats, Freddy and Zorro, who enjoy wandering around the neighborhood (they are indoor/outdoor cats.) As you can see, I "speak" both dogs and cats fluently (as well as German and Russian). For the past 7 years, I’ve been frequently taking care of my neighbors' dog during their travels. In the Summer 2018 and 2019 I house/dog-sat in Costa Rica for a month (can provide references) and realized what a wonderful way it is to experience various cultures and life styles. It left me eager to seek more opportunities like it.
During the short growing season in Minnesota I enjoy tending to my flower and vegetable garden, and would gladly care for your plants as well.

Julia is a very kind person, she has been taking care of my cat and flat in Paris for 3 weeks and a half. It was my first time leaving my cat and my house to the cares of someone I don't know and thanks to Julia, I would be ready to do it again. When I went back to my studio, Cartouche my cat seemed relaxed and happy and my studio was extra clean. I spent amazing vacations knowing she was taking care of my kitty. She gave me news regularly and sent pics which was reassuring for me and the communication was super easy since the beginning! I highly recommend her as a cat sitter! Great experience !!!
