Erwin is a 7-year old rescue cat who came to live with us a few months ago. He's friendly, always hungry, but just a little unsure of himself still. We also have a very elderly alpaca called Briggs, who needs very little attention but the manure he creates needs shovelling into the compost every few days. There are 3 hens which need feeding and cleaning regularly - they produce lots of eggs for you to eat. In the summer we have a large garden and a very big dome as a greenhouse which needs watering and airing, and vegetables that need eating.

We leave to go away on the 11th in the afternoon, so it would be useful for a house-sitter to arrive beforehand. If you wanted to come the day before and stay on the night of the 10th, that would be fine too.

Logement

Large, spacious house in an acre of land, surrounded by woodlands in the heart of the English Cotswolds. Contemporary inside, traditional outside. Well insulated: warm in winter, cool in summer. Very secluded, but lots of friendly neighbours very close by. The pub is at the end of the lane and footpaths go through the garden to surrounding walking country.

Our house is in a very small village which has a church and a pub. It is an extremely friendly and sociable village and our neighbours are all delightful and helpful. There is another village within 10 minutes drive (or half an hour walk) which has a few shops. We go to the nearby town of Stroud for most of our shopping, or to Cheltenham which is about half an hour's drive away. It is very quiet and rural. We are surrounded by National Trust and English Nature woodlands in which you can walk fairly freely. But we also have good internet connection and all features of modern life, so we have the best of both worlds. There is almost no public transport, though. Ours is a non-smoking home, and we cannot have dogs to stay because Erwin the cat would be horrified.

The Cotswolds are famous for being very English and beautiful. Cheltenham is also a city full of culture with many festivals throughout the year. There are many beautiful pubs and restaurants in the surrounding villages, and lots of beautiful walks including the Cotswold Way which is close by. Our local town, Stroud, has a prize-winning farmers' market each Saturday and lots of interesting independent shops and cafes. It is also a major centre for arts, with art festivals in May and exhibitions year-round.

It was a dream for me to spend time in the lovely Cotswolds and it was really perfect despite of the weather but snow, rain and wind in December and in UK it's so natural, isn't it? We had wonderful sunny days too, we met a lovely cat, a sweet alpaca and curious hens. Because of the snow we won't met the owners directly but we stayed in touch before and during the home-stay and we appreciated informations and contacts names and phone numbers of the neighbors. Everybody was really so lovely and helpful with us when it was necessary. Thank you again to gave us the opportunity to take care of your pets and home.
