We have 2 dogs: Tasha (12) and Lola (6). They are both rescue mutts and pretty laid-back. Sleep most of the day/evening. Tosha and Lola get fed 1x/day in the morning, and get "walked" 3x a day: 7am, 1ish, and 9pm. They also spend the night in their "pen," the laundry room. In the event of thunderstorms or fireworks, they'd need to be in the pen, too. During your stay they can be walked in the backyard, or they can be walked around the neighborhood on the provided leash. Tasha gets a wee excited when other dogs are in the vicinity, and she wails like she's dying. She is NOT. :P It's more embarrassing than anything else (for me, at least). Yes, we know Lola is fat :( . I'm reasonably convinced she has a thyroid issue, regardless that the vet has told me twice now that she doesn't. I remain unconvinced, but can't do much about it. They will (especially Tasha) take advantage of the fact that you are "fresh meat," and put their heads, paws, or both on your lap to encourage petting! Great wifi, lots of channels.

We're in a nice suburban area (in SC) right outside of Charlotte (NC). About 3 doors down from Lake Wylie, which you should definitely see while you are here!

Very lovely suburban neighborhood with uptown Charlotte (it's called UPtown here, not DOWNtown) about a 25 minute drive (depending on traffic). You're good if you want to explore, and you're good if you want to a homebody, too.

We're about 1.5 hours from the foothills of the Appalachians, so you could totally make a day trip of it. If you want to go all the way to Asheville, it's about 2 hours. If you want rolling countryside drives - about 5 minutes away. Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is approximately 15 minutes, and the quaint Belmont about 20. Carowinds is about 20 minutes, and the museums/theatre/opera is all uptown.
