Pet-sitting | Vegetable patch | 2 Cats

Just being friendly and responsible, and love cats. Our two cats are in good health, very easy and settled, but they will want company and regular feeding. They also occasionally get stuck in trees and bring small (usually dead) offerings into our house so those will need to be retrieved so we don't come home to a graveyard of small smelly corpses. Apart from that we have couple of house plants it would be nice to keep alive and just keeping an eye on things generally. We have a vege garden if you like to potter about in one, but it's not a necessary part of the house sit.

We have some cover for Sammy (the cat) and flexibility to extend the stay. We haven't yet booked our return flights but will be somewhere around this date :)

Lovely spacious (90m2) gite accommodation for you while you look after our two lovely cats and keep an eye on our house. Nothing to do in terms of particular chores, just look after yourself, collect the mail and feed / pat our cats (there might also be some rescue duties if either of them gets stuck up any trees on the property!) We are a bit flexible on the dates as we have some local friends who can help us, It will be cold at that time, so you should be comfortable retrieving firewood from the woodshed and operating heating system if needed (we will show you everything you need to know). A lot to do in the area, nice walks, a stunning view, convenient for amenities, local markets and a wood burner for chilly winter nights. A lovely place to spend Christmas :)

Our property is a small farmlet, lots of space and a stunning view. Feels like it is a million miles from anywhere, but actually only 5 mins down the hill to a choice of large supermarkets, and all amenities you could need. Ideally located to visit many Plus Beaux villages of France and many beautiful walks to take.

We were the first house-sitters that Martin and Kylie had ever used. Our brief was to look after Sammy the cat and their house in south-west France during the spring of 2022. With its panoramic views overlooking a magnificent valley down to the village of Gagnac sur Cere .. this was not a chore. Sammy is a no maintenance fellow. He eats when he wants, sleeps where and when he wants and will come to you if he wants brushing or cuddles. Sammy has the run of much of the surrounding hamlet and would not recognise a litter tray, let alone have need of one. If he wanted company, he would track you down and rub himself around your legs, purr, and then hop up on a couch. He was never known to shy away from a brushing, in fact he sometimes slept holding the brush handle. We miss him. Martin and Kylie gave us the 2-bedroom gite with all its mod cons. I can tell you that after nearly 8 weeks we had really moved in and had a very comfortable daily rhythm. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes etc. within easy driving distance of the hamlet. We always found what we wanted in the shops. During the 8 weeks there were several times we needed to contact Kylie and Martin to keep them informed of an event such as weather damage or unexpected Sammy behaviour. They were always readily available at the other end of a WhatsApp chat. All issue-ettes were easily solved in this manner. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Kylie and Martin’s. Beaulieu sur Dordogne and surrounds is an amazing part of France with something for everyone, and Sammy the cat is not to be missed.
