We have a lovely labradoodle (Holly), 2 cats (Mr Mouse and Chicken) and 6 chickens (Penelope, Rose, Hetty, Betty, Buttercup and Bluebell). The main requirements are feeding the animals, walking the dog and general pet care. Both cats are indoor and outdoor pets. Mr Mouse is 16 and loves people, particularly children. Chicken is more nervous but likes to sit on new people in the evening. Holly loves everyone and can be excited when she first meets people, but she calms down quickly. She is very patient with children, having endured 2 of our own. The chickens like eating are surprisingly friendly!

Haus

A newly renovated traditional alsacien style house, completed in Dec 2022. The accommodation is a self contained house separate from the main house, that will be let out to guests in the near future. Located within 10 minutes walk from the boulangerie in Hesingue. Close to the Swiss and German borders, a good base to explore Basel while experiencing the French countryside.

We have wifi, access to Netflix and Disney channels. In the basement we have a small gym with a spinning bike and weights. We have a few bikes which would also be available for use. The pool is currently closed for the winter. The spa may be open, we are having a few technical issues that I am hoping to fix soon!

The house is located in a village, in the countryside but only 15 minutes drive from the centre of Basel. Supermarkets are within driving distance. A really good base to explore the Southern Alsace region and region trois frontiers, with the Swiss border less than 10 minutes drive and the German border 15 minutes drive. Our garden isn’t entirely enclosed with a low wall on one boundary, which children and dogs could climb over. However our dog doesn’t leave the garden if outside by herself, and our chickens have a moveable enclosure so they can enjoy the garden. We also have a pool, which unfortunately may not be in use by April, depending on the weather, a climbing structure in the front garden, and enough space for smaller children to scoot or ride their bikes to the rear of the house.

There are lots of interesting places to visit locally, with many castles located within 30mins, historic towns and the Wine Route in the foothills of the Vosges, and lots of museums. And that’s just in France, over the Swiss and French borders there are many other attractions to suit everyone. In nearby Saint Louis, there is a park and ride less than 10minutes drive away, where a tram into Basel can be caught.

We absolutely loved this sit. The house we stayed is separated from the main house. It’s newly renovated, modern, clean and tidy with all the amenities. There’s a big garden and space for children to run and bike. The stars of the sit are 1 dog, 2 cats, 4 fish and 6 chickens, sounds a lot, but no worries, they are all well trained, well behaved and easy to take care of. They won’t disturb you at all during the night. Holly the dog is very sweet and obedient. Chris and Helen are nice, thoughtful and generous. Their daughters, Emily and Charlotte are as hospitable as their parents. My children had a great time with them and want to stay longer to play with them. I would love to sit for Chris and Helen again, I highly recommend this sit to others!

Their home is very nice and quiet, with swimming pool, children s books, lovely and easy pets. My kids want to stay in the house forever. It is 10 min drive to Basel , and there are many hikes / walks / castles nearby . The host is very friendly and happy to provide us with every thing we need for our time at their house. This is our first house sitting experience and we are over the moon with our nice experience .
